Victory to Ireland in finishing round of LFC International

The last day at the European Championships in Gothenburg started out with the finishing round of Lövsta Future Challenge International Jumping and got to be a super exciting competition. 19 super talented U25 riders went for the individual victory in the 150 jumping and they gave the audience top sport to watch. In the end the victory went to Irish rider Richard Howley, followed by the two Swedish riders Karin Martinsen and Irma Karlsson.

Richard Howley and his horse Chinook whom he has had since he was eight years old. Chinook used to be an eventer and you could almost tell by his super canter.

The first round resulted in eight clear rounds, two from Ireland, two from Sweden and one rider from Germany, Great Britain, Denmark and Belgium. Irma Karlsson and Ida vd Bisschop was first to go in the jump off of the Swedish riders and she did a fast and clear round and went up in the lead. She was followed by Karin Martinsen with Quantos who beat Irma’s time with 0.51 seconds. It looked really good for the Swedes until Irish rider Richard Howley on Chinook entered the arena. The former eventing horse Chinook proved his ability to gallop fast and the pair beat Karin Martinsen with 45.89 seconds compared to 46.06.

Karin Martinsen and Quantos was the best Swedish pair. Karin really showed her ability to focus and she was not far away from beating the Irish rider.
